Creanda is built to be measurable. But the numbers are first of all about attractiveness and social infrastructure — making Macchia Valfortore a place worth living in, visiting and investing in. The economy is the proof, not the goal.
Ripple effects in the community
The purpose is not just a place to work. Every international visitor, every training program and every company stay is converted into demand, income and new jobs in the community — economically, physically and socially.
Economic
Visitors eat, sleep, travel and shop locally — restaurants, B&Bs, transport, guides and producers all gain new customers. The long-term effect reaches further: local producers get help to package, sell and ship their products to an international market, far beyond the guests who happen to be in town.
Physical
Restoring stone houses puts local builders and craftspeople to work and raises the value of the whole village. Shared infrastructure for payments, bookings and logistics is built to be used and owned locally — and better mobility and renewable energy strengthen the place well beyond the project itself.
Social
People who once left can come back, and remote workers can settle. Skills and traditions pass between generations, language and culture flow both ways, and the opportunities are open to the whole community — women, elders and returnees as well as youth. The story of the village shifts from decline to confidence.

Recurring yearly levels once established. Built from a small set of assumptions — roughly €650 per guest week, €55 in daily local spending per visitor, and about €50,000 in local turnover per full-time job.
What it means for the municipality and funders
Already in year one, the pilot creates recurring local economic activity of roughly €280,000–660,000 per year — in the same order of magnitude as the entire one-off establishment budget, but repeating every year. A large share of that money lands with independent local businesses that are fighting to survive today. That is where the effect on depopulation becomes visible.
